what this is
These terms cover the init.Tasks apps for iPhone, Mac and Android (the "apps"), the web app at app.inittasks.com (the "web app"), the init.Tasks API and MCP server (the "API"), and the inittasks.com and devs.inittasks.com websites (the "website"), together "init.Tasks" or "the service". init.Tasks is an independent product, part of init.Made, developed and operated from the Netherlands by Vladyslav Glogus.
By installing or using any of them, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the service or hold an account.
beta
init.Tasks is in beta. Features may change, move or be removed, and things may break. Keep your own copy of anything important with settings › data › export.
Everything is free during the beta. Beta access is by invitation, may be limited to some platforms, and we may end it for you or for everyone. Before the beta ends we will tell you what changes, and you will never be charged unless you choose a paid plan yourself.
Test builds reach you through Apple's TestFlight or Google Play's testing tracks, whose own terms also apply.
accounts
You can use the iPhone, Mac and Android apps without an account, with your data staying on your device. To sync between devices, use the web app or use the API, you create an account with an email address and password, Sign in with Google, or (on iPhone, Mac and the web) Sign in with Apple.
One account for init.Tasks and init.Habits. init.Tasks shares its account system with init.Habits, another init.Made app. The same account signs you in to both, and each app keeps its own data. Deleting your account in init.Tasks deletes your init.Tasks data and leaves init.Habits as it is.
You are responsible for keeping your login details and recovery key safe, and for what happens under your account, including through API keys and apps you connect. Please use an accurate email address so we can send you account and security messages. An account is for one person. Don't share it or let others sign in as you.
You can delete your account at any time in settings. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms or abuses the service.
your data and your recovery key
Your content is yours. You give us only the permission we need to store, copy, back up and transmit it, encrypted, in order to run the service, and to process it for the connections you set up. This ends when you delete it, apart from backups, which rotate out as described in our privacy policy.
Your content is encrypted on your devices with a key we don't have, so we can't read it and we can't recover it for you. When you set up encryption you get a recovery key. Keep it somewhere safe. If you lose every device you are signed in on and your recovery key, your data can't be recovered by you, by us, or by anyone. Resetting your password doesn't restore access to encrypted data.
Items in the trash are deleted for good after 30 days, the next time you open init.Tasks. You can export all of your data at any time with settings › data › export.
How we handle the data we can see is described in our privacy policy.
using init.Tasks
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use init.Tasks. On Apple devices this licence covers Apple-branded products that you own or control and is subject to the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. On Android it is subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
init.Tasks is a tool for organising your own tasks, notes and files. It isn't built for decisions where a missed reminder could cause harm. Reminders can arrive late or not at all, because they depend on your device, its settings and its connection, so don't rely on them for anything medical, safety-critical or where a deadline can't be missed.
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code of the apps or the web app, except as the law expressly allows. Using the public API as documented is fine
- redistribute or sell the apps
- use init.Tasks to harm others, store or distribute unlawful content, or transmit malware
- store files you have no right to store
- get around the storage limits or try to access anyone else's data
Storage limits. During the beta a file can be up to 100 MB and an account can hold up to 10 GB. Limits may change, and the current ones are shown in the app. We will tell you before a change affects files you already have.
Unlawful content. Because your content is end-to-end encrypted, we don't see it and don't review it. If you believe something stored with us is unlawful, write to hello@inittasks.com with what you can tell us, and we will respond and act as the law requires. We may terminate accounts that use the service for unlawful content.
API, MCP, AI connections and webhooks
init.Tasks offers an API and an MCP server so you can use your data from other apps and AI tools.
You decide what to connect. When you create an API key or approve a connection, the app or AI tool can read and change your data within the access you gave it, and our server decrypts your data for it while the connection exists. Apps and AI tools you connect are provided by others, under their own terms. You are responsible for choosing them and for what you let them do. We aren't responsible for what a connected app or AI does with your data or to it, including changes and deletions made through the access you gave it, and AI tools can make mistakes. You can end any connection at any time.
Fair use. Use the API and MCP server for your own data and in good faith. Don't try to get around the rate limits, access other people's data, probe or attack the service, or use it in a way that degrades it for others. The current limits are published at devs.inittasks.com. If you need more, write to us. We may change the limits, and we may revoke keys or connections, or block an app, that abuses the service or puts users' data at risk.
Building an app on init.Tasks. Anyone can build an app that connects to init.Tasks, with no approval process. If you do, ask users only for the access your app needs, handle their data under a privacy policy of your own, and don't present your app as made or endorsed by init.Tasks. During the beta the API may change without notice. We will try to announce breaking changes at devs.inittasks.com, but we don't promise a deprecation period.
Webhooks. If you add a webhook, we send short change notices (never your content) to the address you give. You are responsible for that address and the service behind it. We may disable a webhook that keeps failing.
paid plans
Everything is free during the beta, and we will tell you before that changes. If paid plans arrive, nothing is charged unless you choose a plan, and our refund policy applies.
app store terms
The following terms apply to your use of the apps as distributed through the Apple App Store and TestFlight, and are required by Apple.
These terms are between you and us. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the apps or their content.
We are solely responsible for any maintenance and support for the apps. Apple has no obligation to provide either.
If an app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if applicable). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims you or a third party may have relating to the apps, including product liability, failure to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection, and privacy.
If a third party claims an app infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo or that has been designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
You agree to comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the apps (for example, your wireless data plan terms).
You acknowledge that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and that Apple has the right (and is deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
If you got the Android app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. Google is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app.
feedback and community
If you send us ideas, suggestions or bug reports, by email, on Discord or anywhere else, we may use them to improve init.Tasks, with no obligation or payment to you. Please don't include anything confidential.
Our Discord server is run under Discord's terms. What you post there can be seen by other members. We may remove posts or members that are abusive or off-topic, and we may remove you from the beta for abusing it.
fine print
init.Tasks is provided "as is" and "as available", particularly while it is in beta. We don't promise the service will be free of bugs, available at all times, or that your data will never be lost, so export what matters to you regularly. We don't promise the apps will work on every operating system, browser or device. If you are a consumer who paid for a plan, you keep the rights the law gives you when digital content or services don't conform, and nothing here takes them away.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including lost data, missed reminders, and anything a connected app or AI does. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us for init.Tasks in the past twelve months. During the free beta, that is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that can't lawfully be excluded or limited, including for intent or gross negligence.
The init.Tasks name, branding, design and source code are owned by us. Using the service doesn't give you any rights to them.
general
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. These terms, together with our privacy and refund policies, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to a successor if we restructure, sell or otherwise transfer the service, and we will tell you if that happens. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
termination
You can stop using init.Tasks at any time by deleting the apps, or by deleting your account.
We may suspend or terminate your access, or revoke API keys and connections, if you violate these terms, try to harm others through the service, or try to abuse our infrastructure.
We may also discontinue init.Tasks, the web app, the API, the MCP server, the website or any feature. If we discontinue the service, we will give you reasonable notice so you can export your data first. Because your content is encrypted, only you can export it.
governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, and disputes are resolved in Dutch courts. If you are a consumer in the EU, you also keep the rights your local consumer protection laws give you, including the right to bring a claim in the courts where you live. These terms don't override those.
developer
The service is operated by Vladyslav Glogus, based in the Netherlands. For questions, complaints or claims relating to init.Tasks, contact hello@inittasks.com.
changes
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using the service and delete your account before it takes effect. Continuing after that means you accept the updated terms.
